HOW IT BEGAN
At the age of 21 Deborah completed a UK Talent Transfer Program in 2012 which led to being scouted into an England Rugby 7s program. From there Deborah fell in love with the game and was successfully selected into the England Elite Playing Squad in 2013. Injury led to Deborah’s involvement in the squad coming to a premature end, but saw her returning to international rugby in 2016.
ENGLAND RUGBY SEVENS
Deborah played professional rugby sevens with England and Great Britain Sevens from 2016-2021. Played in over 100 games on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and the second female player to score over 50 World Series career tries for England. In 2018 represented Team England at the Commonwealth Games, scoring the first Women’s Rugby Sevens try in history for Team England and secured the Bronze medal.
TOKYO OLYMPICS
In 2021 Deborah became an Olympian and represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics with the team coming 4th.
PREMIERSHIP WOMENS RUGBY (PWR)
After taking a break from rugby for the birth of her child; Deborah returned to competition in 2022 at 17 weeks postpartum. Where she has since been playing in the Premiership Women’s (PWR) Rugby league. Which is one of the most competitive women’s rugby union leagues in the world. Sine 2013 Deborah has had seasons representing Bristol Bears, Worcester Warriors and Saracens. Playing in multiple premiership semi-finals and finals.
